Grandma was rescued from Warner Robins Animal Control for a rescue in New York. Everyone that has met her adores her because she is so gentle. The officer at the shelter was so glad she was being rescued, she had been worried about her. She was only supposed to be with us for about 2 weeks but after a trip to the vet to check her out we found out she's here for good. She is over 12 years old and had a bad heart so the trip would kill her. Since she's been here we've discovered she also gets a little stiff in her hip at times but she will still give us a bounce or two when it's not bothering her. She has filled out quite a bit in the past few months and has become the grandma of the other animals we have.
Grandma has put on a bit of weight and filled out quite nicely. Her hair had to be cut off very short but has grown out beautifully! She is now over 40 pounds and just as sweet as she was the day she arrived. The other dogs treat her with the respect she deserves as Grandma and when one forgets all it takes is one quick bark and everybody remembers.
We were worried about what the current heat wave would do to her but, thankfully, it has had no real effect! This has to be due to her daytime activity of sleeping on a baby bed mattress in the middle of the living room floor under an airconditioner. And to her not having any problem keeping us informed as to the status of both the water bowl and dry food bowl.
