After being pulled from animal control into a rescue, Ginger's future looked much better! But then it was discovered that she had, as most Southern dogs do, developed mild heartworms. That rescue sent her to us where we have more time for dogs like Ginger to heal and rehabilitate.

Before we knew it, Ginger started to grow...wider. At the end of April she had six beautiful dachshund puppies, who have all been adopted. Ginger's been taking her time recuperating from being a mom. She's put her weight back on and her heartworm treatments are well underway. She has no symptoms of heartworms ( a light case). She actively plays with our other dogs - our "little people" -but she is very polite.

Ginger is as sweet as they come - and not a constant barker! She prefers to quietly ease up by your side and look at you with big almond eyes to win your heart. She is black and tan with a hint of dappling on her sides.
