Cool Joe was found as a stray and taken in by a woman who tried her best to care for him. At that time, he had such a severe case of Demodex, a hereditary form of mange that isn't contagious, that he had lost all of his fur and his body was covered with scabs. We treated his condition with Ivermectin and by giving him Bravecto, which is a 3 month flea/tick preventative that, while not advertised to do so, kills the mites that cause mange. Within a month, Cool Joe began to regrow his fur and seems to have overcome his affliction. We do suggest continued use of Bravecto, which can be obtained through your vet's office.

Despite his condition, Cool Joe remained a happy boy.  He is an incredibly sweet and wonderful boy who loves people. He gets along well with other dogs and has a very gentle old soul.  Cool Joe would make a great addition to just about any household.

As of 10/10/16 it's estimated Cool Joe  is 2-1/2 years old.  He tested negative for heart worms, was neutered and received an update on all of his vaccines on Nov. 9, 2016.
